About Us

Hi, I’m Dalma, a journalist and art therapist.

My journey in the helping profession began in 2021, triggered by my own struggles with anxiety. I completed the MMSZKE art therapy course and the Autogenic Training relaxation leader course at the Hungarian Relaxation and Symbol Therapy Association. Safespace initially started as a mobile art therapy program, but by 2024, it has expanded into a physical space.

The reason is bittersweet: when I unexpectedly lost my grandparents and inherited their apartment, I wanted to give the inheritance a life that would continue the loving, community-oriented, and creative "crafty" lifestyle that characterized them. This decision led to the creation of Safespace, which is now a real space where support and communal care go beyond the walls of traditional therapy rooms.
I envisioned a place where not only similar activities but a shared mission would connect the helping professionals. This mission is to engage in open, taboo- and stigma-free dialogue about mental health – where everyone can represent this professionally, in their unique voice.

The Safespace Workshop consists of three rooms and three bathrooms. The smallest, a 10-square-meter room, is dedicated to individual and pair therapy sessions – psychologists, coaches, and grief counselors welcome their clients here. The largest, a 30-square-meter space, is for group programs: art therapy, music therapy, dance therapy, bibliotherapy sessions, yoga classes, and craft workshops take place here. The middle, 20-square-meter room is where Norbi creates – as a tattoo artist, he works not only with the aesthetics of the designs but also with the personal stories behind them, occasionally incorporating art therapy elements into the sessions upon request.

We welcome you if you are looking for a psychologist, group sessions, or self-awareness methods – and also if you are a helping professional seeking a space and community to grow.
Our Beliefs

What You Should Know,

  • The most important rule: everything is allowed as long as it doesn’t harm the freedom of others. Here, you can truly be who you are – as long as your behavior is not homophobic, transphobic, racist, or harmful in any way.
  • The Workshop is located in the 7th district, on the second floor of a building, and its atmosphere is shaped by the colorful range of programs. If you’re looking for a bohemian, vibrant environment, you’ve arrived at the right place. If you prefer a more minimalist, sterile, and completely quiet environment, you might feel more comfortable elsewhere.
  • We believe in equality and freedom – yet, for the safe and sustainable operation of the space, we also need some structure. You can find the booking procedure and house rules under the Sessions > Documents menu.
